A mostly safe for work comic by Jodi Wegner.
I apologize so much for the delay in regular comics again. I started this one the day I posted the memorial for Loki, and didn't get it finished until yesterday. Life has been crazy busy, but it should be settling down now that I've lost my job. I was laid off from my weekend job this last Monday, and on a more positive note, it gives me much more time to devote to my comics. As a result, I will be going to a four-day-a-week schedule for releasing comics: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. I may release a bonus comic on Wednesday, depending on how much free time I have Tuesday, which is still a busy day for me. I just love this comic a ton. I actually came up with the concept for it while on my long weekend out of town, but couldn't muster the energy to work on it until I got back. There are a couple of jokes in this one, that I think are pretty funny, but some people may not get. First off, a history lesson. The real(ish) band that inspired the fictional band Primalust had changed its name to Cardboard at one point. Not that Primalust/Cardboard ever really happened. We never practiced together, never had any gigs, and only wrote one song, sorta. We has some guitar chords written for a song that otherwise had no title or lyrics. The working title we called it by was GCEE, which was based on the chords used in the song. (G, C, and E minor) and also the intials of the women the two songwriters had crushes on at the time. The second joke is one that probably only sports fan from the Pacific Northwest will get. I came up with the idea for the two shops shown in this comic while in Corvallis, Oregon with my family. I made a joke about how funny it would be to start a restaurant called The Stinky Beaver. (Corvallis is the home of the Oregon State University Beavers.) Then I said that it would be like starting a resaurant in Eugene, Oregon (Home of the University of Oregon Ducks) called The Roasted Duck. I thought the idea was so funny that I had to put those businesses in my comic. It is a joke over the rivalrly between Corvallis and Eugene (which are only about an hour's drive from each other) over their favorite Oregon team. They play against each other every year in what we call Civil War. So Kat has decided to run amok on the internet. She's joined Fetlife as Goth_Kat, and she is also now on Twitter. Hopefully she knows what she's doing because I have no idea how to use Twitter. Anyways, if you've ever wanted to interact her, go ahead and follow her or send her a friend request. All of her replies will be in character. Just a fun way to market my comic, and entertain my readers. Now that I've lost my job, it is more important then ever to support my comic. There are two ways to do so. First, you can buy something from my store. Just click the Store on the top menu of this page and it will take you to my Cafepress page. I have a number of pretty cool designs up there that you can get on T-shirts and other things. Secondly, I am on Patreon, a site for artists to get donations from their fans to help support their work, generally in exchange for incentives. I currently offer two incentives on my page. For $25/month, I will send you one of the original copies of one of my comics. You can choose which comic you would like out of any still in inventory. If you hurry, you can choose any comic you'd like, as I still have a full inventory. The second incentive is if you donate $15/month, I will illustrate you as a character in my comic. In addition I will send you a full color drawing of your comic character. I will need to start looking for other employment, and finding a new job may make it harder to get work done on my comic, so please consider helping me out if you can. If you just don't have the money to help support my work, you can help in other ways. I don't have much money for advertising, so I rely on word of mouth to gain more readers. Share my comics on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites. Vote for my comic on topwebcomics.com. Tell your friends about me and give them my web page information. The more readers I have, the more support I can likely receive. Thank you so much in advance! I love all my readers. Please vote for me on topwebcomics.com. If you love this comic as much as I do, please take the time and help support my comic by helping more people find it. It's quick and easy to vote, and you can do it once every 24 hours. After playing around with the voting myself, I've discovered that you can only vote once per location, not device. You can vote by clicking the picture below. Comment Form is loading comments...
