A mostly safe for work comic by Jodi Wegner.
A collection of some of my other projects: art, photos, poetry, short stories, and novel excerpts.
This is one of the oldest pieces I still have. It is a short story I wrote in 1999 for a short story writing class I took that winter at LCC. I have since revisted and revised it, and I consider this piece to be done. I've never been able to get it published anywhere, so congratulations, you fine folk can read it for free. It is a story of revenge. The narrator and main character is a woman born in fuedal Japan whose village was razed and pillaged by a warlord. She got taken in by a clan of ninja who trained her. This story inspired one of my novels (also called Oni's Shadow). In the writing of the novel, I have made the world of Oni's Shadow seperate from our own. It takes place in a world where Japan in actually part of mainland China, and history of the two countries is a bit different as a result.
This story is one I also wrote in 1999 in the same short story class I wrote Oni's Shadow. Although she is not named in this story, the woman in this piece is from one of my larger pieces. Her name is Lisa Brown, and she is part of the greater epic that includes my Ice Age War novels, and The New World. I have been working on these stories since I was 14, and they are based on a series of tabletop RPGs that I played in high school. I have not written on them in a long time, but I will eventually return to them. However, this story doesn't require any knowledge of that larger world and stands well alone.
This is not really a short story, per say. Just a writing exercise I came up with in a creative writing course at the U of O. This is a snippet of the life of the character explored in the previous writing: The Curse. This story takes place in her childhood, long before she'd ever become a vampire. But it shows that a darkness lay in her heart that would eventually manifest as the downfall she takes after her change.
Darkness Inside (Formally A Day in the Life)
This is the first novel I started when I started doing National Novel Writing Month each November. It is two stories in one novel. The first is about the adventures of a young woman, Alyria, who lives in a fantasy land and has joined the local militia in an attempt to help provide for her family. The second story is about Sarah, a woman in our world who suffers from depression and social anxiety, and plays Alyria in an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. Think World of Warcraft.) As the two stories progress, we discover that Sarah and Alyria may share a closer connection than they realize, and there seems to be something sinister about the game.
This was not the novel I had originally planned to write the second year I participated in National Novel Writing Month. I had planned to write something else entirely, but then a cousin of my then newly-wed wife passed away suddenly in a tragic accident. We went to his memorial service, and his story inspired this one. This story is about Michael Lawrence, a man with a lifelong romance with a lake. It is a cautionary tale of love and death and regret. It follows his entire life, from the moment his parents met until his unfortunate death at the very lake he'd spent his life dedicated to. It is thus far the only novel I have written with a completed manuscript, and I am currently working on revisions.
Excert from For Love of a Lake
2012 was an election year, and so my novel for the year reflected the politics at the time. I imagined a world where the poor in this country finally decided they'd have enough and overthrew the U.S. government. I describe it as a combination of Games of Thrones and 24. It follows a pair of brothers, one of whom is destined to lead the revolt. It features a cast of extremely flawed characters. There are no heroes here. Every single character has their hands dirty, in one way or another.

For 2013, I decided to write something a little different. A book had become quite popular that year that you made have heard of: Fifty Shades of Grey. I never read the book, but I heard a lot about it, particularly among people in the BDSM scene. The verdict that came across was that Fifty Shades was not really a book about BDSM. It is not reflective of the way BDSM is practiced in reality, and the relationship is told would be considered abusive. Not surprising to me as it began its roots as Twilight fan fiction. This novel was my first attempt (but would not be my last) at writing a BDSM themed erotica, that is meant to be more reflective of the reality of a BDSM relationship than just the fantasy. This will be the first time that I have shared any part of this novel to anyone.

Excerpt from The Dark Side of Pleasure
In late 2014/early 2015, I joined a kinky writer's group called EWW (Eugene Writers Workshop). I wanted to do something kinky, but I didn't want to rehash what I'd done the previous year with The Dark Side of Pleasure. So evolved True Love's Kiss, which was only meant to be a temporary title because I couldn't think of anything better, but I grew to love it, especially when I decided that in this story, True Love's Kiss (or TLK as they call it) is slang for oral sex. So this story started with an idea I'd had for a fantasy story years ago. Rather than the princess being rescued by a prince, I though, what if it were a princess who rescued her instead. This concept evolved into a tom boyish princess masquerading as her twin brother after an accident ended his life tragically when they were children. She grew up thinking of herself as male. This was the first time I had ever written a trans character, and I was worried about the novel, but the other writers in EWW seemed to like it well enough, so I hope that it is respectful of the trans community.

2015's National Novel Writing project started off as a joke between a writer friend and I. It turned into this whole crazy idea of a BDSM themed superhero story, where the villain was an age player who was only a villain when he was a little. It spawned a series of short stories that I am still writing about a super villainess named Domme Vixen and her archenemy, Real Dom. The short stories will culminate in the origin story for the Wicked Little. I have a version of the scene that will end the short stories where Domme Vixen creates the Wicked Little, and that is the excerpt I will share here. I may eventually pen these stories as comics.
(Warning: This is the most mature excerpt that I have posted here. It is strongly violent and sexual, and may be a trigger for some readers. Please, mature readers only.)
